| Audi R8 Roadster |
Audi's planned expansion of its R8 lineup will include upgraded engines and a new convertible version that's likely to make an appearance in 2010.
The R8 is hoped-for to have removable targa panels alternatively of a folding convertible top, with twin speedster humps positioned above the mid-mounted V8.
Audi R8 Roadster will probably use the same 420-horsepower 4.2-liter engine that powers the 2008 R8 coupe. But Audi also announced that the Audi R8 might also see a V10 interpretation, maybe the same V10 as in the Lamborghini Gallardo that is also applied in the Audi S6 and S8.
The new convertible will gain a conventional fabric ceiling but drops out on the R8's trademark aluminum side blades. Other major changes that are expected to make it to production will be extra air inlets built-up behind the seating as well as a couple of safe roll-over bars.
The position of the fuel filler cap will also be changed due to the missing rear pillars, while varieties under the sheet-metal will probably take extra chassis strengthening. |
