| Tales from Earthsea is the new Studio Ghibli movie |
Based on Wizard of Earthsea, third book of Tales from Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin, Gedo Senki is the new movie of the Studio Ghibli that will be directed by Goro Miyazaki, son of Sensei Hayao. The book of Ursula K. Le Guin is considered a masterpiece, a novel that can be placed to the same level of Tolkien's work. The world of Earthsea is a world of archipelagos formed by numerous islands and oceans where wizards, dragons and shadows live and where the laws of the magical art are exact as those of science. The Wizard of Earthsea narrates the adventures of Ged, that child learned the acquaintance of the magical arts, following great wizards of the Archipelago. In the destiny of Ged, than from adult it will assume the name of Sparrowhawk, is written that he will become a great tamer of dragoons and great mage. Unfortunately its life will not easy, but will be studded of many errors that he will commits, pushed from desire to learn too much in a hurry. Superficial use of its powers it will open a door in the world of the afterlife, and will make to appear the Shadow of his dead that will chase him in order to kill. The adventure is a metaphor of the way of the life and the contrast between the good and the evil. The movie that marks the debut of Goro Miyazaki to the direction, it is the first great production of Studio Ghibli not directed from one of the two Masters Miyazaki and Takahata. The novel series of Le Guin had been already transposed in the 2004 in a TV miniseries for the American channel, Sci Fi Channel, unfortunately with no success. |
